Detroit was the earliest Hagenbeck designed zoo in the USA
That's a hell of a lot of Hamadryas baboons on that island, and I think that the enclosure is still standing today and now contains Japanese macaques. Of course the exhibit has been refurbished, and there are no elephants anymore as they were replaced by white rhinos about a decade ago.

Has it really been a decade now? ...time sure does fly by fast.
 
This postcard shows a large troop of Hamadryas baboons, and Baboon Rock also held Chacma and Guinea baboons at various times in its history. Interestingly enough while with the Hamadryas and Chacma there was never a single escape on numerous occasions Guinea baboons found ways to exit their enclosure.
