Disney doesn't just throw up artificial rock walls wherever. They create a storyline and each feature in the landscape needs to make geological sense for it to exist. The detail they go into is really amazing.
The scenery is indeed breathtaking and startlingly realistic, but the downside is that the hippo pool in this photo is viewed by visitors anywhere between 10 and 40 seconds. I'm not even exaggerating....
However, there is a hippo exhibit that is visible on foot (and actually there are 3 seperate hippo exhibits, 2 on the safari and one on Pangani). Now only if the lions and elephants were visible from the Pangani Forest trail as well.
