One of the wonders of the Kilimanjaro Safaris tour is that many of the animal exhibits are difficult to describe in terms of size. The hidden moats and other unobstrusive barriers means that while on the fast-paced tour (far too fast for the average ZooChatter) it is next to impossible to discern the exact location of the perimeters of an exhibit. Where does the lion habitat begin and end? In the modern glories of the zoo world it is great to say...no one knows!
With the help of google maps I was able to find that the lion habitat is about 6520 square feet. Its rather shocking how much space the moat takes up. I can only assume that it may have something to do with the exhibits sightlines.
