Have they blocked off part of this trail system under the big fake tree with all of the animal carvings? Several months ago it was reported that chunks of the tree were falling off.
How was your visit to DAK? Did you find the Kilimanjaro Safari to be a good animal watching experience?

When I went here in early August this section was not completely blocked off but there was some sections blocked off. The Bugs Life movie under neath the tree was open but I saw some netting above the walk ways to get to the movie.
When I went to Kilimanjaro safaris I went right when the park opened and the wait was a little over 30 min. and all the animals were active. The best part was seeing two bontebok grazing less than 10 feet from the truck. (I saw every species listed on the list above the seats)

On my trip that day, I didn't really go anywhere near the Tree of Life (or as you call it, the big fake tree - which, yeah, it basically is! ), so I unfortunately can't answer that question.
My visit to Animal Kingdom was great! Thank you for asking. It was my first trip there as a member of ZooChat, so I had to be extra observant of anything and everything , and had to make sure I took lots of pictures as well (which got on my family's nerves quite a bit, especially when it was 95 degrees and humid, haha). My ride on Kilimanjaro Safaris was pretty good. I liked the fact that they got rid of the whole poacher story and just made it a "regular" ride. Most of the animals were out, except the zebras, who I heard are getting a new exhibit! The truck passed by a construction area during the ride, where the guide explained the situation. I'm now more of a video person, so I recorded the whole safari ride rather than even trying to get some pictures with my humble little "snap-and-shoot" camera. That's what they're called right? haha I need something more professional... a Canon would do.
I'd seen species I'd never seen before (or probably just didn't notice on previous visits), such as Abdim's storks (one of my favorites), and black crowned-cranes (I haven't been to many zoos ). It was also my first trip to Disney World/Florida since 2008, and it was a big surprise (may not be a kid but it was still exciting news to hear ), so I really enjoyed my trip.
