Located in Denver, Colorado, this beautiful indoor facility features aquarium exhibits from around the world, as well as a habitat for Sumatran Tigers. There is also a Downtown Aquarium in Houston, Texas, owned by the same company.
I do wonder why so many seem to think this is important for "big" animals (however one defines that), and less so for "smaller" species?

Have no idea as well. Yet l totally emotionally feel it is more important for the large mammals. Obviously they all deserve to have outdoor exhibits.

Interesting what is challenging on this, is my own experiance with animals in my house. They "ALL" want to be inside in winter. Only going out for food water and toilet. They would actually prefer this all served indoors!!

The dogs however MUST be walked daily even in the rain.

Yes these are long term domesticted animals. Not like the big cats l have some experiance with in zoos. Many are still totally wild in zoos. Yet many many generations from there wild origions.

So do animals given the choice prefer to be indoors?
It would seem to come down perhaps to enrichment. Outdoor exhibits can at times allow for allot more enrichment including climate variations.
