Are you sure? When I was there a keeper hinted that something like red river hogs would go in the unfinished exhibit on the opposite side of the savanna as this water area. (The one behind the building with the meerkats).
There was some kind of waterfowl (maybe egyptian geese maybe something else) in the water on the other side of the bridge from this pool. (Same pool, just other side of this walkway). I am unclear whether they could swim back and forth or if there is a fence underneath the walkway that allows water through but stops animals?
Yes I'm sure, I beleive the exhibit you are referring to is to be a future hunting dog exhibit. The holding building for the dogs was designed but never built. Not sure if it was "Phase 2" or just got VE'd out but it will be included as part of the master plan.

You are right! Often that species is kept in a dusty enclosure but this exhibit will be specifically geared towards providing visitors images of the hogs in water.
