One of the great things about this fairly new addition to the zoo (the entire African Journey area is less than 2 years old) is the fact that the zoo went with a number of species that are not very common in American zoos. Griffon vultures, spotted hyenas, ratels, dwarf mongooses, bat-eared foxes, wildebeest, servals and Verreaux's eagle owls are all difficult to locate in many major collections, but they can all be found at Indiana's Fort Wayne Zoo.
