Texas Wild! - Brush Country - North American Porcupine and Ringtail Exhibit

Another pitiful porcupine pen!;) I've seen this exhibit in person, and it is quite small, fake, adorned with a ridiculous-looking strand of green foliage, and inappropriate for a species that can be difficult to locate behind the reflection on the windows.

Just speaking personally (and as someone who's only seen either exhibit in a single photo) - this is uglier to my eyes than the Axe Valley one partly because they've tried (and failed!) to make it look pretty. The garland does indeed look ridiculous and the rockwork is giving me Colchester flashbacks!

Couple of questions - first, is this the whole exhibit? And second - is it outside? The light comng in looks natural. Would be an odd decision to keep them indoors only, particularly in Texas.

On a related note, ringtails/cacomistles are one of my favourites - only seen them a couple of times (Arnhem, Poznan) but they're wonderful little animals. Sadly not very common in zoos outside the Americas.

This is it! No outdoor area that I could see. The room is skylit and extends a little further back around the corner than shown. I had an easy view of the porcupine though, check out the next pic!

The garland should be burned.

Maguari, ay ay ay that is an eyesore, looks like the Grinch Stole Christmas.
