A tour that is well worth it for zoo fanatics. My cousin and I did it a couple years ago (and we were the only two on the tour, which was great).

Intensive management for coati?

The guide told us they had planned to move coatis to the public halfway point, where the café and aviaries and petting zoo are. But then something happened, I forget exactly what, and the move did not occur. Whether they will move them there eventually I am not sure.

Probably because the gift shop next to the cafe burned down last year.

I'll be taking this tour tomorrow... Should be interesting.

Yes you will definitely enjoy it. The grevys zebras were not part of our tour, they must be in a separate private area. The prairie chickens are only seen from a distance. However it is worth it for the cheetahs alone (at least for me). The main cheetah breeding yard is huge - at least two acres in size and there are several smaller (but still large) yards attached. Since our tour they have added black footed cats to the private area, but I do not know if you will see them on the tour.

Thanks for all the info. To be honest, I'm in it more for the chickens than the cheetahs... Perhaps the only chicken that I've ever been desperate to see. Would I be able to take good photos of them or is there a fence in the way?

There are fences covered with mesh. The only prairie chicken photo I have is from Caldwell Zoo in Tyler (I think that is where it was). The photo opportunities on this private tour are extremely limited.
