This may be one of the only Syrian Brown Bears in the country.

Do you have a full body pic of this animal?

I´m not very experienced with Syrian Brown Bears, but it doens´t look like one.

I don't have a full body shot. I can give a size comparison. It shares the exhibit with an American Black Bear and it is about the same size.

I could be wrong, but maybe this specimen is not a full blood Syrian brown bear. Also @jusko88 besides Detroit Zoo they also had Syrian brown bears at the Baton Rouge Zoo and they might still have them at Space Farms Zoo and Museum

a Syrian black bear is a breed of hamster.

Those cubs are not Syrian brown bears, despite what the sanctuary would claim. If they came from Chicago then I would assume them to be Alaskan brown bears. Someone on here with better knowledge of the Chicago zoos would know.

googling shows numerous small-time zoos in the USA claiming to have Syrian brown bears, usually cubs, often "orphaned". I wonder if Syrian brown bears are the new Barbary lions?
