This exhibit is not much bigger than what you see here. A new multi-acre exhibit for African elephants is in the design phase for this zoo according to media reports, and is scheduled to open in 2014. The Asian elephants here are elderly females and I suspect that this exhibit will be phased out when the new one opens. Whether these elephants will be integrated with the African herd in the new exhibit or sent to another zoo to live with other Asian elephants (seems more likely) has not yet been announced to my knowledge.
