Wetland exhibit in Sea Lion Coast along entry trail

Sea Lion Cove opened in 2012 and won the AZA exhibit of the year award.

This is a coastal wetland recreation with an interpretive sign.

It is a truly immersive exhibit that pulls people out of the main zoo and into an area surrounded by a berm with coastal vegetation from the California coast (which is about 150 miles from where Fresno is). One feels like one is walking through a dune ecosystem to the ocean. There are ocean sound effects played and you are completely removed from the rest of the zoo.
