The Koala House in the Oceania Area in Planckendael. In here are three smaller exhibits housing Queensland koalas (Phascolarctos cinereus adustus) and Planckendael is one of only 7 European zoos to exhibit this species. Visitors view the koalas from outside the house under a covered walkway. I find this a shame as viewing isnt as good and I personally miss the smell of eucalyptus that accompanies koalas.
The Oceania theme in Planckendael opened in 1998 and is one of the most extensive in Europe featuring wildlife from Australia and New Guinea.
