jbnbsn99 27 Sep 2010 From what I understand about giraffes is that they won't step above anything about 18 inches or so off the ground. Actually, the whole zoo is designed around these moats. Most of them are naturally occurring resacas (former channels of the Rio Grand River).

scimiterhorned1 27 Sep 2010 this is not very safe for giraffes at all. it just takes one thing to set them off and they will end up with a giraffe stuck down a moat with servier injuries
