Very interesting. Looks kind of like a nyala.

I have just booked a flight to San Antonio for a week in March. Was going to go north from there for Dallas and several others, but maybe I should go south to Gladys Porter to see these and the jentiks duiker before it dies?

San Antonio is amazing; Topi antelope, African Civet and more gems. But much as I like Dallas Zoo, I would rather go down to Brownsville. Knowing your interest in cats, I might warn you that Brownsville's feline collection is not that good, but the ungulate collection will make you forget your own name!

AD, when is your trip. March is a nasty time to visit Texas zoos.

Spring is nasty? Actually I do remember going to Fort Worth Zoo in March and it was very cold (but at least clear). But I also remember going to Dallas and Fort Worth Zoos the previous December and it was in the 70's. So I guess it is hit or miss.

My trip is first week of March (Feb 28-Mar 5), but since I will now be focusing on the far south, hopefully a bit warmer down there. My new itinerary is San Antonio Zoo (that is where I am flying in and out), Gladys Porter Zoo, Houston Zoo. (I am actually going to Dallas on New Year weekend now).

Spring Break is what I was referring to, but your timing should be absolutely perfect. It will be well before the crowds arrive. Weather is usually fine then. I visited SA that same time last year and had no problems.

Oh yes, I forgot all about Spring Break and South Padre Island (near Brownsville). Looks like I timed it just right. Now, I just hope the jentiks duiker doesn't die before March.
