The exhibit and house for common wombats (Vombatus ursinus hirsutus) in the Oceania Area in Planckendael. A very nice little exhibit that really allows the wombats to go on a digging spree. Visitors can also attempt to view the wombats in their indoor exhibit through the window. Planckendael is one of only 4 European zoos to keep wombats.
The Oceania theme in Planckendael opened in 1998 and is one of the most extensive in Europe featuring wildlife from Australia and New Guinea.
