Are these still the only harnessed bushbuck in North America? Are there any in private ownership?

Could this be the most beautiful ungulate ever? Bongo are comparable aesthetically & in my experience would get my vote on account of their wonderful friendly disposition when tame. However , if I find that these bushbuck are also friendly, than maybe the bongo will have some serious competition.

Kéwel are indeed very beautiful antelope, though I do have a personal bias for Bongos and Greater Kudu. Kéwel generally have more stripes then their relatives (once considered to be the same species) the Imbabalas. They also have a very varied striping pattern with verticle stipes, horizontal stripes, and even spots. Very few antelope species have such varied patterns. I think that just adds to their beauty. Kéwel are also so delicate looking. I hope to be able to get down to the Gladys Porter Zoo and see all of these beautiful rarities some time in the future! :)

Yes, there are evidently a few in private hands. When I visited, a keeper told me the 2nd group was fairly new and came from a private owner. I can only assume that someone like Brad Kelly has them.

Well, good news that there may be a few more around. That must be the most beautiful antelope I have seen. Looking forward to seeing them in person in two months.
