I think, I've made more than 50 shots of the Jentink's Duiker, who knows, if I ever will get another chance to see this species...
During my visit, a mexican animal keeper showed me around the zoo, he showed me the gorillas, crocodiles, zebras, eelphants, tigers, all with the comment"they are very dangerous, they are dangerous", but he didn't showed me the jentinks duikers or the bush boks and I had to ask for the Hunters Hartebeest, the"crazy antelope"
Once again Zebraduiker, when I go to Gladys Porter Zoo I will have 2 rare animals to look foward to (the Jentink's Duiker here in this photo and the bushbuck ....fantastic photo!!!
So hurry to get there, I don't know how old the Jentinks Duiker is...I have a guidebook from 1973, my god, what they had for a great collection at this time.....
Ungulate was saying that most jentinks duiker (Cephalophus jentinki) are of 1 single individual and there is a photograph of more then 1 in the Los Angeles Zoo gallery, make sure you check it out !!!, Jentinks duiker are a very interesting antelope and they live in very thick rainforest and eat fruit, flowers and leaves mostly those that fell from the canopy, what do they feed the Jentinks duiker at gladys porter zoo ?
