Nice picture. How many brockets do they have ? It is nice that a zoo so near to Mexico has this species.

Not sure the number. I only saw two, but I have reason to believe that there are more.

Not at all.

Central american red brocket (Mazama temama) may not be common in US zoos, but they are the only Mazama spp. currently in captivity in the United States, other Brocket species that have been in the United States include

Yucatan brown brocket (Mazama pandora) at Gladys Porter Zoo and Los Angeles Zoo in the 1970s

Gray brocket (Mazama gouazoubira) at Phildadelphia Zoo in the 1940s and 1950s

Northeast south american red brocket (Mazama americana americana) at the Smithsonian National Zoo in the 1910s and 1920s

Costa rican red brocket (Mazama americana cerasina) at Bronx Zoo, Bergen County Zoo, Little Rock Zoo and a few other places at different times

And

Trinidad red brocket (Mazama americana trinitatis) at Smithsonian National Zoo in the 1920s

Going back to Central american red brockets, besides Gladys Porter Zoo, in the United States, you can also see them at St. Augustine Alligator Farm, Phoenix Zoo, and Bergen County Zoo and out of those zoos I think Gladys Porter Zoo has the largest population of them
