It is a small zoo but a surprisingly good one that attracts over 700,000 annual visitors mainly because it is free. There are quite a few popular species (orangutans, gibbons, lemurs, penguins, otters, seals, tigers, lions, rhinos, giraffes) a Herpetarium/Discovery Center with 41 species, a small Tropical Rain Forest complex and of course the upcoming Arctic Passage zone. Somali Wild Asses are going to be a neat addition and this 104 year-old zoo lacks any outstanding exhibits but also doesn't have any really poor ones either. Rock solid all-around.
