Agro is the most active cod I have seen and never hides. He always follows people around the glass and puts on a god show. Hw would be around 100cm and has been there for about 10 years.
He was found to be very sick on Thursday and went almost totally white. It took them a while to find what was wrong. They eventually found a staff member had double salted his tank, as someone taste tested it and found it like sea water. To protect against parisites most native fish tanks have salt added and he got 30kg instead of 15 in his tank. By the time I arived on Sat morning he had completly recovered.
The hatchary manager at Narandera said Canberra had a couple of very big cod together in a tank and was suprised they would co-habitate, although they did knock each other about in the breeding season.
Trout cod can be even more agresive in tanks. The previous one at Narandera broke his jaw on the glass trying to bite someones hand when they put it against the glass. The Trout Cod at Darling Harbour was also supplied by Naranderra and he also broke his jaw on the glass. The current one at Naranderra is active but not so agressive.
I'd love to see that big tank with a couple of them in it. Trout Cod sound like they would be even harder to keep though and thanks for the information by the way.
