ISIS is still going through the transition to ZIMS, so the data that is viewable on ISIS is slowly becoming dated as there are more arrivals, departures, births, and deaths. For example, ISIS does not list the Cincinnati Zoo as having the Aye-aye or the pair of Aardwolves which also arrived this year ;) I can confirm that the Cincinnati Zoo is now exhibiting an African Striped Weasel in their Jungle Trails exhibit. However, I have no idea where it came from.

What is "ZIMS"? Sorry if this is a dumb question.

Thanks for the picture. I love pictures of rarely photographed animals!

According to this link, Striped Polecat | African Animals | Weasel | Wildlife Safari.info. , these animals emit noxious chemicals from their anal glands. Seems like convergent evolution with skunks.
note the white-naped or striped weasel is Poecilogale albinucha; the striped polecat (or zorilla which is my preferred name) is a different species, Ictonyx striatus

I've heard of and seen photographs of the Zorilla, but the African Striped Weasel is one species that's new to me.

I know this thread is a few years old but does Cincy still have this species? I did not observe it on my visit.

The striped-weasel is not there anymore as of August 2013, or at least it wasn't on exhibit.

The Only time a saw the African Striped Weasel was at Philadelphia zoo. I was so active, running around looking for food and enrichment. Sadly the specimen at Philadelphia passed away earlier this year and Greater Egyptian Jerboa is on exhibit now.
