I've been fascinated with Honolulu Zoo for quite some time, especially considering the fact that by the end of August it will be the one major American zoo that I have not visited. I know that the 12-acre African Savanna area is supposedly quite good, there is an extensive tropical bird collection, and that the latest additions have included the 2005 orangutan habitat and the 2011 Asian elephant exhibit. "Hix", judging from your photos I get the impression that the majority of the animal enclosures at the zoo are quite pleasant, and while there does not seem to be anything truly exceptional there might not be anything awful as well. I'd love to visit one day, and I don't suppose that a ZooChat review is a possibility?
A review is certainly a possibility, but I'm going to be busy for the next week so it won't be happening anytime soon (and you know how loong a good review takes to write). Don't worry, it will come. I just wan't to get the photos up as soon as possible and get that out of the way (Waikiki Aquarium next).
Pleasant is a good word to describe the zoo. Apart from the Orang exhibit, there is nothing truly outstanding* (not even the African Savanna imo), but there is nothing truly bad except the Spider Monkey cage and the Francois Langur cage - and hopefully they will be rectified in the near future.
