I believe there is a zoo in the Netherlands that specializes in domestic animal breeds. I would love to see an exhibit that paired Domestic Animals with their Wild Ancestor. Hard to do for Domestic Cattle...have to use something that the Tauros Project comes up with. Goats with Bezoar Ibex, Sheep with Urial, Donkeys with Somali Wild Ass, Dogs with Wolves and a transition via the Dingo, Cats, Chickens, Pigeons, Guinea Pigs, Alpacas....etc. I'd enjoy it, as a twist to the familiar "Farmyard". Sounds like it'd be a zoo in itself and similar to the Wildparks of Germany a bit too. March 19, 2018.

@Dutch zoos are not strong in domestic animals, but in Germany there are zoos specializing in them ;)

Thank you Lintworm. I used to travel through the Netherlands quite a bit and loved riding the trains and imagining the domestic stock out in the fields to be the Ghosts of some Neolithic low-country "Serengeti". (A Dutch girl on the train to Eindhoven once asked me "They don't have cows where your from?" And I grew up in Texas!!) There was even a large herd of domestic Bison near Leopoldsburg in Belgium, and herds of domestic Fallow Deer, and every now and then I'd see Wild Boar or Roe Deer or Foxes out in the fields. I thought, though I never visited it, that there was a farm park in Holland that was specifically dedicated to what in the United States we call "Heritage Breeds" and rare breeds? Thanks for commenting, The Netherlands remains my 2nd favorite "Zoo Country"....after Germany and just ahead of my own! :)
