As far as I know the Chilean are temporary - of Antwerpse Zoo stock - too! Certainly, as a bird lover / aviculture adept I would not wish for long term and the chances of mucking up Caribbeans and Chileans (let alone what this flock will / would do with the lesser flamingos).
I really really really do hope the lesser flamingos get a new and larger free-flight aviary where a larger flock may be held - the current group is too small even to hope for any breeding nor offspring).
I think you mean the Caribbean flamingo's - they are the onces who moved here from Antwerp.
As for the lesser flamingo's. Zoos with small groups should just all decide to move their animals to a handful of zoos, to make substainable breeding groups.

Agreed, re the smaller groups of lesser flamingos. With 2 zoos now with some breeding success this year …., it is even more imperative that ever before.
