Is there any other zoo on the planet with every species of crane? The ICF has had a lot of breeding success and while many of the exhibits are fairly basic, there are some gems like the Wattled Crane enclosure in this photo. Also, there are several impressive viewing areas that one would normally see outside mammal exhibits:
For the moment I don't know ( have to check Zootierliste ) but in the time I was working at Walsrode , we had almost all species, the only missing one was the Whooping crane - and it still is...
I believe Walsrode keeps about a dozen species of crane.
Are there any Whooping Cranes outside of North America? There are certainly none in Europe, so unless any other North American zoo keeps all 15 species, then this is the only one.
(Just checked zootierliste and according to that, Walsrode keeps 11 species, as does Tierpark Berlin, though a different 11)
Thanks for checking zootierliste. The International Crane Foundation is a wonderful facility and to be able to see all 15 crane species within the span of an hour or so is a remarkable fact. It reminds me of when I visited St. Augustine Alligator Farm Zoological Park (now that is a mouthful!) in 2012 and I saw all 23 species of crocodilian in one location...although these days there might well be more species than that.
