All that new fill was the old moat that divided the gorillas from the chimpanzees.

This field should be for deer or antelope, but primates being here is a waste of space. To top it off the spacious yard is for a silverback that spends 24-7 completely alone.

This is certainly a lot better now than when pictured above. There are climbing structures, it is grassy, and the troop is average size, mixed with black-and-white colobus monkey.

I'm guessing, based on the posts above and the photo itself, that this was previously two separate islands which has been turned into one large enclosure?

I can't answer the above question, but I feel it is also worth noting that the entire Great Apes area of the Jacksonville Zoo is currently under renovation.

Meh, I've seen much worse. At least it's not a giant bird cage.
