The zoo has one of the most genetically valuable elephant bulls in the country. Unfortunately, he did not breed with any of the females, successfully. So the resident cows slipped into post reproduction. He has two calves on the ground though, Zahara, Indianapolis, and Jabali, Disney's Animal Kingdom.

I would only wish he had given the zoo Baba (his female elephant) as well. As she currently has no breeding opportunities and is in an animal acting company.

Michael Jackson donated Ali to Jacksonville because at the time Jacksonville was one of the only AZA zoos that had the facilities to hold a full grown bull elephant. They had just built their new elephant exhibit with a state of the art barn/ERD.
