In 2013 this brown bear exhibit will be tranformed into a modern, naturalistic exhibit, but you are right that there are still far too many cement grottoes in American zoos. Many major zoos have the funding and resources to overhaul such areas, but the smaller zoos that I saw on this latest road trip have many disappointing grottoes and the facilities seem to lack the resources to change the situation.
