3 South American Exhibits

July 12th, 2012. The metal cage with the mock-rock mountain in the background is for maned wolves, the tiny rocky island with a few branches is for white-faced saki monkeys, and a flock of Chilean flamingos can be seen on the right.

I like how all 3 species can be seen in one view, but the island for the flamingoes looks average at best, and the other two exhibits seem awful (especially the wolf exhibit.)

Does anyone know if this whole area was originally built for another species and then repurposed for South American animals. It has to be one of the strangest maned wolf exhibits I have ever seen. And the poor saki monkeys are in a pretty barren area.

Both species seem out of place and it really looks like the exhibit was intended for something else.

And mighty mike is a...?

“Mighty Mike”, the 800-pound, 14-foot American alligator that is hailed as the largest of his kind outside of the state of Florida is currently at Newport Aquarium but he has toured a few different facilities in recent years.
