Front Entry Plaza - River Otter Exhibit

Is this a nice exhibit? Is it brand new (as of the last year)?

snowleopard, yes this is a great exhibit and I think it is less than a year old. Adjacent is a nice trumpeter swan exhibit, and nearby construction is in full swing for the new polar bear exhibit which will also act as an entry area experience.

Is there any natural substrate amongst that rock-work?

redpanda, the exhibit has another area around the corner without water which I believe has earth substrate.

Thanks, I'm becoming ever more concerned by the lack of natural substrate in many mammal exhibits due to zoos preferening to use fake rock. However, it's good to know that these otters have the best of both worlds.
