Australia & Oceania – There is a spacious and scenic Red Kangaroo/Black Swan walk-through yard that leads into an Aussie-themed building (built in 1989) with distinctive steel siding. Inside there are sand-coloured boulders as a backdrop to several exhibits. There is information about Saltwater Crocodiles but the enclosure actually holds a juvenile American Alligator; Kookaburras inhabit a central exhibit that has a crashing waterfall at the back; a Gould’s Monitor has a sandy enclosure; species in terrariums include Green Tree Python, Bearded Dragon, Prehensile-Tailed Skink, Spiny Turtle and Golden Coin Turtle; and a Coral Reef tank is packed with colourful fish. Next to the kangaroos are a couple of aviaries for Bald Eagles and Great Horned Owls.
