No it wasn't. It was taken about half an hour before sunset.
I think calling it a night tour is a bit misleading, it actually calls itself a day/night rainforest tour and includes some wildlife stuff in the late afternoon/evening. The tour actually leaves Cairns at 1:30 and we looked at some Agile Wallabies in the Cairns suburbs before going up into the Atherton Tablelands to get there in the evening.
Yeah, this really was one of the highlights of the whole trip.
I should also note that as well as being in the day, they were also in a really exposed position on the edge of a road so I could see them without branches in the way and I could also go to the other side of the road so I was looking them at a shallower angle rather than straight up as I would have to if it was in dense rainforest. Also not being in the dense rainforest meant it wasn't so dark from the shade of the trees.
