If you look closely you can see all 4 species that reside in the Savannah exhibit, and that's why I like this photo. Giraffe, ostrich, I think Thomson's gazelle, and a species of bird that is on the ground and to the right. I distinctly recall that there were only the 4 different species in the exhibit.
The elephants had departed by then, but I did see at least two at Brookfield Zoo the next day. Of course that zoo also no longer showcases elephants, and even Niabi Zoo is sending its two away in the next couple of months. The state of Illinois will soon have zero elephants.

Brookfield would like to build a new elephant exhibit at some point down the line but the original concept has been scrapped and the whole thing is currently on the back burner.
