Great Apes - Gorilla Exhibit #2

San Diego is going to build a similar fitness course for their gorillas and charge the apes five bucks each to use it :D
 
Interesting to see that some US Gorilla exhibits are still quite economic/ basic in their design- like some UK/europe ones there is a wide variety of types. More cover/vegetation would improve this for the animals and make it look more attractive too. Note where the gorilla is sitting- under something.;)

You have some interesting points, and the lack of any kind of canopy has plagued gorilla exhibits for years. This enclosure at Little Rock (a zoo with a wonderful animal collection in mainly substandard enclosures) was built 30 years ago and has not stood the test of time as well as many others of that era. Woodland Park, Cincinnati and San Francisco have gorilla habitats that were all constructed between 1978-1980 and they are all arguably more impressive than the one in this photo.
