Giant Eland

2013 Little Rock Zoo

Gabon talapoin (Miopithecus ogouensis), even though the exhibit is labeled as Miopithecus talapoin, I've been told the coloration/features of this animal are of ogouensis. Thoughts?

I'd agree. Previously thought to be a subspecies of the Southern talapoin (M. talapoin), these have lighter facial features than the other species, which sports an almost black face.

Yeah, this is definitely Gabon Talapoin :) compare to my photo of the taxon taken last year at Magdeburg:

So does that make three zoos with Talapoin in the US? Birmingham, Audubon and Little Rock…
