China exhibit at the Los Angeles Zoo

There are no monkeys yet, but I like how the exhibit has become so lush. I wonder if the exhibit will stay that lush when the monkeys arrive.

Should finally be occupied by the end of August 09. They won't be Golden Monkeys now, but the wait for something new is still exciting. I just can't wait to finally walk through the glass-fronted public display area.

I really can't wait either. I got the chance to walk inside the building and the exhibit is beautiful. The trees inside look so realistic that if you didn't know that they were fake you would really think they were actual living trees.

How tall is the enclosure?

Not quite sure of height, but it could easily serve as an aviary. The glassed viewing area is on stilts to give the public a treetop view inside the exhibit. The exhibit space is some 3,000 square feet, with an additional 1,000 square foot holding area and a 650 square foot public viewing area. If I had to make a guestimate in height, I'd say around 40 feet.

I went today, saw a monkey in there from a distance, the building itself was not accessible yet. Looks like a very good exhibit, perhaps the best at the zoo, not that that's saying that much.
