Wow, in 1988, you saw one of the few California condors in EXISTANCE anywhere? What an honor.
 
They were not on display. I was visiting the US to attend the annual AAZK conference (that year in Tucson) and some friends who worked at the LA Zoo managed to get me a viewing.

I remember thinking how privileged I was to see such a rare animal - at that time there was a total of 28 Californian Condors in existence, none of them in the wild. That total of 28 included the recently hatched Molloko, the first C.Condor to be bred in captivity (at SDWAP).

At the conference I was the successful bidder at the auction of a photograph enlargement of Molloko, taken at two days old. I still have that photo.
