Site of Future RainForest of the Americas

So I assume they are going to tear down the remains of the old aviaries? (These have been closed for decades and the flooring is literally falling apart). Will they keep all those tall eucalyptus trees? Any date set to start construction?

Yes, it's all coming down, and I'm sure that will probably include any eucalyptus trees in the way of construction, since they hardly fit into the theme. And L.A. has lots of eucalyptus trees. Still in its design phase by the Portico Group, the tentative completion date has been set for June of 20012.

The zoo should have kept the old aviaries (obviously after renovating them), and somehow incorporate them into rainforests of the americas. Maybe a large south american aviary?
