This looks quite nice, but I can't think of anything in the zoo that now resembles it...where was it in the zoo?
I hope that I don't drive you crazy with all of my questions, but you are posting such interesting glimpses of LA Zoo history that I can't help myself.

I remember this being along the long pathway between the entrance and the main valley with most of the zoo's exhibits. Before that area became a site for churro carts, mini-carousels etc.
Thanks for answering for me. Shows how long I have not been visiting LA Zoo. Churro carts and mini carousels - who in there right mind would not fix up that exhibit. NO only would it work for almost any primates, it was a beautiful waterfall and a great photo op.
Is it totally gone or is the shell still there?
David, don't worry about questions, that is why we joined Zoo Chat to help.
The exhibit is not gone, just the island is not being used for primates. The pond around the island is used for a breeding pair of Black-necked Swans and Mallards also live there. The waterfall is no longer in use like I've mentioned in another thread.
Thanks for the info mstickmanp. It does look like the current swan exhibit when I imagine it without all of the monkey furniture. Do you know why it was demonkeyed? Too small of an exhibit?
