There is a giant otter in the upper pond. It was vocalizing. This exhibit was formerly occupied by maned wolves and is presumably a temporary home for the otters until a new exhibit is built as part of the new Rainforest of the Americas complex.

Which brings the question: what will replace the otters once they move to their new exhibit?
I've heard that the zoo might connect this exhibit with the Maned Wolf exhibit, connecting the two pools in each side considering they are really close to each other, and making it a tapir exhibit. I think it could make a good Mountain Tapir exhibit.

This sounds like a good idea to me. These exhibits are pretty small and bigger would be better. They are nicely planted. I hope that maned wolves will still be part of the zoo too.
You both probably know already, but the exhibit still houses giant otters, even though there is a new exhibit in Rainforests of the Americas. Connecting the two exhibits sounds good, but maybe making it a giant anteater exhibit would be better, considering that so many other zoos (Phoenix, San Diego, Etc.) do it.
