One of Two Panay Cloud Rat Enclosures

I didn't see them when I was there in the summer of 2010. All I saw was antelope squirrels. Unless I was looking at the wrong enclosure.

They weren't there during the summer. They just arrived a couple of months ago.

I was there yesterday but no luck in spotting them.

Has anybody here actually seen them? I looked for them when I went to see the baby giant otters last weekend and didn't see them either.

I'm puzzled why the LA Zoo has so many nocturnal species in the children's zoo: slow loris, cloud rats, civets, armadillos. None of these species are ever out (occasionally I see the civets). They have a whole closed nocturnal house...why are they not using it to house these species where people can actually experience seeing them? Or maybe that is the plan...?

After several months on display now, I've yet to see the cloud rats in either enclosure. I'm wondering if there would be much better luck at night during one of the special nighttime events at the zoo? But I have seen the armadillos and one remaining civet on numerous occasions.
