Billy - Elephants of Asia - October 7, 2011

When those plants are a bit bigger in the next few years and hide the posts, it should create a nice look. (San Diego, please take note).

One aspect of this exhibit that is still unclear is when/if there will ever be any younger females introduced and when/if Billy will ever be introduced to the older pair of females at the zoo. The exhibit is now almost a year old and they are still separated, which I would take as an indication that the socialization process possibly is not going so well.

Actually, the females, specially Tina, are fond of Billy and he is very interested in them. The problem might be that Billy is very playful/rough so that may be the reason why he has not been fully introduced to the older females.

The zoo's plan is to obtain at least two young breeding age females, but as to when that will happen is yet to be known.
