The Congo Peafowl Breeding Centre in ZOO Antwerpen. The Breeding Centre consists of four main exhibits (all indoors) each with a pair of congo peafowl (Afropavo congensis) and some backstage exhibits for rearing chicks. Aside from the peafowls the Centre also houses speckled mousebird (Colius striatus), white-crested turaco (Tauraco leucolophus), violet plantain-eater (Musophaga violacea) and lilac-breasted roller (Coracias caudatus). The Breeding Centre was rebuilt into its current state in 2009.

The congo peafowl is one of the flagship species of the KMDA who also runs the EEP program for this species. This is another one of the species from the former Belgian Congo that the KMDA specializes in along with the bonobos (Pan paniscus) and okapis (Okapia johnstoni) for which they also coordinate the EEP.
