cape buffalo

1.2 Cape buffalo were in that yard for years and had several offspring. The original barn had 3 stalls and shortly after a calf was weaned, it left the zoo. A male lived there by himself before the zoo received the gerenuk. A pair of leopard tortoises shared the yard for a while.

I remember the leopard tortoises being exhibited in front of the African Elephants for a short period of time and probably never noticed them in this yard. I'm extremely glad you've joined this site Michael; for though my memory is okay when it comes to visiting the LA Zoo for over forty years, you were employed there for some forty years as the General Curator and are now our resident spokesman. Welcome to ZooChat!
