Having been advised by two LA locals who know the zoo like their own backyard, there is an agreement that this has to be the Black Duiker exhibit (see comments below) even if the Duiker in the far back is impossible to identify.
Yes, I believe that's a Black Duiker. I don't believe the Yellow-backed Duikers were ever exhibited in this space. And the current Yellow-backed Duikers were the first exhibited here in quite a few years. There were also Lechwes in here, either during, or just prior to the Black Duikers.
That's perfectly understandable Baldur, I've been attending this zoo since 1966 and I still have trouble recalling many details from the past. You're from Iceland, and probably have only visited once or twice. You're doing just fine! And thanks for the trip down memory lane, it's always good to see what things were like at one of your favorite institutions years back.
It looks like a Black duiker to me because you can kind of see the brown coloration on its head, a feature that black duikers possess that yellow backed duikers dont quite have, and also Bushbucks, Bongos and Goliath herons used to live in this paddock
