Sarus Crane

Are the bamboo posts at the front of this exhibit for the sarus crane or the chinese water deer?

The bamboo in the front is more of an aesthetic barrier. It actually makes it harder to take pics of the crane and deer as seen here.

Are water deer especially skittish? Is it a visual barrier for the deer perhaps?

You know what, that could be it. When the deer are on the smaller exhibit, which has no visual barrier, they never came out. When I saw the deer on this exhibit, it was out and about. Although it is weird because this exhibit is way more open overall.
