Yes, you said it. It was an amazing experience to see this fascinanting animal that close....Unfortunately, it died a few weeks later.

That's the problem with pangolins, they are very hard to keep and most of them die during the first few month. The keepers at Leipzig are surprised, that the formosan pangolin is still alive....And this is the reason, why the zoos are not keeping pangolins anymore.

Well, after all this pangolin had gone through in it's short life I'm surprised it even survived for the time it did. What other zoos have pangolins?

I think, the only zoos with pangolins at this time are Leipzig, Ueno-Zoo Tokio and Teipei,from where Leipzig got his pangolin.

For past holdings of Pangolins in the United States, they had the following species at the following zoos

Giant pangolin:

Fort Worth Zoo
&
Milwaukee county Zoo

Indian pangolin:

Oklahoma City Zoo

Chinese pangolin:

Phoenix Zoo
&
Audobon Zoo

If anybody knows more US holdings for these species or if other Manis spp. were imported into North America, I'd love to hear about it!
