Not many! I stood watching them for ages, taking photos, and no-one stayed around for even a moment (not even a local ZooChatter! :p). I got a few weird looks for being there for so long too.

LAZ visitors are somewhat spoiled for interesting species in the vicinity of the Mountain Tapir though, and most would have already passed the Brazilian Tapir in the Rainforest of the Americas so probably don't realise its a different species.

Zooboy28 is right - looks like Mountain Tapir at LA Zoo is not very popular with visitors. People are interested with more common zoo animals: Tiger, Lion, Giraffe, Chimpanzee than this rarity.
But thats good for the Tapir - less stress since not many people looking :)
