A view inside the Egyptian Temple in ZOO Antwerpen. The Egyptian Temple is the oldest animal house in the zoo built in 1856 and now functions as an elephant/giraffe house.
The exhibits to the left house blue duikers (Philantomba monticola) and natal red duikers (Cephalophus natalensis), the glass-fronted exhibit in the end house giraffes (Giraffa camelopardalis) and the exhibits to the right house Asian elephants (Elephas maximus).

I really loved this building. Maybe when the elephant herd leaves and something more appropriate moves in it will feel less cramped. This will sound really weird but I like the smell of indoor Giraffe exhibits.

No, I'm with you on that!

A beautyful building, no question, and okay for small species like duiker antelopes, but not for big mammals like giraffes and elephants. I hope, the will move the giraffes also to a better exhibit, and use the stalls and outdoor exhibit for another small antelope species. But I'm afraid, they will not do that, they have no space in the too small zoo, and a zoo without giraffes and elephants ?I

At the beginning of the 20th century,, this house was full of animals-indian and sumatran rhino, african and asian eelphant, giraffe, zebra, onager,Dromedaries, and some small antelopes. How they have kept all this animals in it ? On two floors ?

The last Blue Duiker has moved to one of the Okapi exhibits. The ET holds now only a couple Red Duikers.

It's confirmed that the ET will not holds animals anymore in the future. All the current species will get new exhibits (where and how is not known yet).
